Leave bike and go home!

Hello Overlanders,

I'm planning a trip from The Netherlands to Sydney starting in may. Since my father is Ill, there is a possibility I have to fly back on a certain point on the trip, so I'm gathering all the info on storing my bike in all the different countries along the way that are not in the Carnet.

Do you have any recent information on storing a motorcycle in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan? I can only find old threads and often pre Tajikistan joining the custom union..

All other recommendations on storing are very welcome

I think Usbekistan ist very hard and may cause a lot of problems.
Tajikistan is als hard, but a friend of mine did it 2018 for a year after an accident.

Kirgistan and Kazakhstan should be easy.

Kyrgyzstan is part of the trade union, and when you enter the first country (Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan) make sure you get 1 year temporary permit and then it can stay that long. Muztoo is Osh can store your bike and I think there are some places in Bishkek as well.

Storage in the stans

I used a company called GLOBALINK based in Almaty to uplift my bike and bring it back to the UK. They are a vehicle transport company so may be able to help with storage.

So, to conclude the situation in the Stans, I have to get my ass (and bike) to Kazachstan or Kirgistan! Thanks for the info guys!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_p...Visa_exemption - They introduced a visa waiver for EU citizens in 2018. :) A friend of mine goes there for work, quite easy now apparently.

Yes, to get the visa, not to leave the bike.

I was there and had problems with time and thought about overstaying and exceed the visa.

So I called my embassy to help.
Short information:
When you overstay, the bike gets seized and yourself in big trouble.
OK, visa will not be overstaying on his case, but bike.
And this will be seized.
But you can buy it back from the authorities..
For the price where they rate it.
