Laos-China-Mongolia/Kazakhstan/Kyrgyzstan (May/Jun 2017) Guide

Hi, I am looking for vehicles to join trip from Laos to any of: Mongolia, Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan, end of May/beg on Jun. I am on motorcycle, Cars welcome to join.

I know one traveller willing to go to from Laos to Mongolia, so the cost should be less than 3k USD when a car would join us.

The goal is to avoid expressways, motorcycles are prohibited from using them but this will allow us to explore China more.

If you are interested or you know anyone doing same route around this time please let me know.

My mail darius@1man1ride.com

Hello,

We can consider joining, we are 2 people on 1 motorcycle. So far our plan is to leave from Singapore in the beginning of March. Afterwards Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos. We for sure also want to go through the "Stans" :). And of course China presents a problem. What are the prices you got so far?

Hi

Just confirming we are trying to head Laos to Mongolka through China

1 bike with two people

We are also going Malaysia in March through Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, China, Mongolia

That's the plan anyway

We have quote from RideChina 3k USD for 3 bikes including guide and all paper work
14 days to Kazak border from Laos and they will drop us and anyone else who wants off at Mongolia border and head on to Kazak border

With you guys Makakaontherun we are in business but always the more the merrier and cheaper :)

Hey! By now we have started our travel and are now in Penang for couple of days. After that we will move onto Langkawi and than will head to Thailand.

Do you have a better itinerary for the trip, cause 14 days seems a bit tight. :) Before we were considering shipping from Thailand or Cambodia to Tajikistan, but if we have a chance to ride it we would love to take it.

Cheers!

hi Lucas wondering how is your plans?.but
let me make a point here: Mongolia border and Kazak border are further then From Laos to Mongolia border! here 3900+kms!
https://goo.gl/maps/PsEciKMNLzT2
Laos to Mongolia 3577kms
https://goo.gl/maps/yiW9w2Uw5M32

talking of 2 separate trips here.1 or the other.Laos to KZK or to Mongolia.
realistically,if had to share costs , is impossible to calculate quotes if some would be '' dropped off' at Mongolia first

keep in touch

We are at the early stages of planning a trip from Indo to Ireland via China. For China are the guides required just to cross the border or are they needed for the duration of your time in China?

Guides and permits are required all the way. Itinerary, accomodation etc must be recognised by the chinese government. You must have a chinese temporary driving license etc. Paperwork should normally be sent to the agents/guides 3 months in advance in order for them to process everything.

So its wise to plan a good bit in advance.

all as u said.beside:the license will be done once u cross the border (with the help of guide.and it doesnt take more than a month for the agents to get u ready to go :thumbup1::thumbup1:

It is correct that the license is done when you have crossed i to China. But on the background of paperwork you have sent in in advance such as copies of national driving license and IDP.
Well - at least when I crossed China in 2014 we were very very strictly told that all paperwork must be recived by the guides/agents minimum 3 months before arrival. Maybe that have changed very dramatically now to 1 months? I kinda doubt it a bit but hear with the guides you choose and then you will get the correct answer.

personal experience dude.or why travellers would share fake/wrong info ?! they tell u 3 months so they get $$ and copy advance! dealt with it several times actually and know agents personally .have a good 1!
