Kyrgyzstan to India passing KKH
 

Hey!

I'll be travelling from Kyrgyzstan to India in a few months and was actually planning on entering Pakistan around mid December. I know this isn't the best period to go, weather wise.
Anybody have some tips for me concerning roadconditions due to this periode, open borders, or closed one's, if the road will even be open! Guide thru China?

Pak-China border on KKH should be open then as it usually closes end of December.
It would be toooo cold for riding a bike as it can snow even in June there. You would be facing dangerous ice on parts of road too.
Its doable but you should be prepared with effective warm clothes and will have to be very carefull while driving.
After 150 kms you will be reaching Gulmit and it would get better from there.

I am in Hunza right now and the winters coming in late this year. Khunjrab Pass does get snow mid October onwards, I will get you the exact dates when the Pass closes for traffic this year. Last year it closed end November!!!
