Kyrgyzstan route questions (for August)
 

Planning a moto trip around N Kyrgyzstan for 4 guys in August. We are planning to get off the paved roads, but still hoping to find some tracks!

Does anyone have experience or info to share about route conditions for the following routes?:

Tash Rabat - Baetov (over the Kulak-Asul Pass)

The "circuit" south of Naryn: At-Basi - Ak-Mus - Catyrtas - Korumdu - Catyr Kol - Tash Rabat - Naryn.

Well, you did not get an answer, so I will tell you what I remember from 10 years ago.


Tash Rabat - Baetov: I rode from Naryn to Tash Rabat to Baetovo in one easy day. Good roads all the way. I found the one and only hotel in Baetovo at N41° 15.927' E74° 57.440' and it was a dump. But who knows, that was 10 years ago. Google maps shows now also 2 guesthouses. BTW, just north of Tash there were 1 or 2 tent camps.



I could not quit figure out the other route you mention, but I assume it is the southerly route from Naryn to Chatyr-Kul' Ozero (the lake) to Tash Rabat. At that time I had planned on going that way, but something got in the way. Vague recollection is that it was a permit issue. So check that out and see if it is still the case.

I was there last June unfortunately road from Tash Rabat to Baetov over the pass was not rideable due to heavy snow coming down. August usually the warmest and snow should be gone however watch out for weather there's some clay there it will be sticky and slippery.

Also go to Son-kul the 33 parrots is nice road and there's a dirt road over Kazerman almost all way to Jalalabad
