Possible the best of the Stans when you consider the friendliness of the people(gov't and otherwise), stunning landscape, cost(cheapo), quality of roads, etc.

Great place to get visas for other neighboring countries including Russia...

See pics from below...

Front Door

Especially Kyrgyzstan 2...

Absolutely on my list of countries to visit again...
BUT be careful, the police use radar guns on the outskirts of Bishkek...not sure why...

How best to get there?

Thanks chaps;

Why there? Well, your pix don't need more answers, do they? Fabulous place, and I've heard indeed about the friendly people, amazing tracks, etc... And my previous trip was down to the Fezzan, in Libya; so this time East!

BUT: I live in London and my rat race doesn't give me that much time, which I want to maximise there, rather than on the Autoroutes and other Autobahns! I'd love to take my time riding there, but need to look at alternatives. Such as flying there with the bike, or having had the bike "shipped" by road ahead of time. Any suggestions?

Cheers!

Yeah, I'd contact Valentine at Yak Tours in Karakol. He can rent you a bike which will save you a lot of money and effort.

I live in Bishkek. If you decide to come, get in touch with me and I can help while you're here. I thought about getting bike here but have instead decided to take MC vacations elsewhere.

shipping

if you want to fly the bike there, i think tashkent or almaty will be a lot cheaper than bishkek... should cost you that much, we met some italians who paid 700 dollars per bike.

good luck
