Kazakh visa: Valid for how long?

Halloo there everybody!

Just need some info about a visa for Kazakhstan please: From the date of issue, how long do I have to use it.
Ie: How much time would I have to enter the country before it expires.

Like so many other people I'm planning an overland adventure from the UK and I want to know if its worth getting the Kazakhstan visa before I leave or should I get it on the road?

Spoke to a lady at the russian embassy and she said with the russian visa i'll have 2 months, which is plenty.

Help!

Hi, I went there a few years ago and at that time I had to name the date that I entered the country and the visa ran from that date if I entered the country or not. You couldn't enter before but after is of course OK, the same goes for Russia, Uzbekistan, Tadjikistan and Turkmenistan.

Cheers Fish.

Having just returned after 5 months on the road Scotland,Norway,Murmansk,St,petersburg,Moscow, then thru to Kazakhstan,Russia,Mongolia, Russia, then thru to Magadan .WE had great experiance with border crossings, if you intend to enter some countrys more than once you need multiple entry visa,s (check when applying) Allow more time than you think in case of lost time, and get the longest visa time you can our Russian one was for 6 months,Kazakhstan 1month (thats all they would give) Mongolia was from 01.08.2008 to30.10.2008 for 30days??? I dont know how they worked that out .It just proves that we should have checked the visa at pick up in London. Most border crossings are slow 4 to 12 hours. if you need any more info cnntact me

more planning

So essentually, I could get all the visa's for Russia, Kazakhstan, kyrgyzstan and tajikistan before I leave the UK and not worry about running out of time to get to a country (as long as I've done my homework).

Thanks guys!

Just out of interest, how long would be realistic to get from the uk to russia? I'm also a bit split between going quickly through russia into Kazakhstan via Astrakan or the longer route through russia entering Kazakhstan through a northern border.
Can swing either way at the moment :devil2: so, any advice to get me up or down?

From personal experience, travelling to Russia via Germany, Poland and Ukraine it is easily possible to get to Russia in under 10 days. And this was on a 500cc Royal Enfield, so on a modern bike you can either spend time taking in some of the sights or get there quicker than I did.

As for the visa, I was only able to get a 1 month Kazakhstan multi entry visa and the same for Russia. Both started on the date I declared on the application form.
