Importing Vehicle To Russia
 

Hello.
I am a new permanent resident to Russia from Canada. I want to import a vintage vehicle I've owned for +15 years into Russia. There are many conflicting laws and despite paying russian lawyers, russian customs brokers, and trying to contact the Russian government. Everyone has conflicting information and I'm pulling my hair out.

Certain Russian laws say new permanant residents and citizens can import one vehicle into Russia without any import fees, such as customs duties and recycling fees.. Etc.
Without these laws. A standard import of my vehicle would be about $70,000 Euros.... Despite the Inherent value of the vehicle being 10x less then that.

This vehicle is like my child and if I had to sell it in Canada it feels like a part of myself would be lost.

Does anyone know anything or have experience with permanantly importing an automobile to Russia as a new permanent resident or citizen? Thank you and much appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Find a good import company because in my experience dealing with bureaucracy is universally painful. Customs will tell you no because that is the safest bet and they don't want to risk their job
