I want to rent a <=250cc motorbike for a two week ride around Japan.
I'm going to SOTM 2012 in Tokyo next month. I want to then do a two week ride around Japan. I love doing motorcycle trips, so I thought it might be a nice idea to rent a bike. From the three businesses I've check out, it seems like it'll be in the order of at least $AU100/day to rent a bike. This will make for an expensive trip. Does anyone have any alternative ideas? Anyone have a bike they want to make a rental deal on?
I will be riding from Tokyo around the coast of Honshu, the main island. I'll try to take in cities like Osaka, Hiroshima and will go to Mt Fuji for a climb to rest my ass for a day or two. Also looking for advice on a good route to take. Wil |
$100+ a day is about as cheap as you will find. Rental is not cheap in Japan, and the exchange rate is very unfavorable to visitors now. You can also try to borrow a bike from an individual. Google gaijin riders (expat biker forum) or World Touring Network-Japan (overlanders group).

I did a search the other day and found that all of the rental companies fine print says you or a member of your travelling partners has to speak/understand the language.
