I did it 3 month ago, no problem, as long you dont want to get to Luhansk or Charkiv :-)

only thing, the Ukrainian border guards are korrupt.
Russians very correct, and Ukrainians did not let me in the border zone without bribe....

Roads in Ukraine are sometimes very bad.

This year I went from Romania ( over Moldavia ) in the danube area to Odessa.
Sometimes very bad roads in Ukraine.

And back comeing from Kursk to Ukraine, then Kiev and Lviv and Poland.
This road was mostly ok

What bike did you take on the route from Mongolia to Austria (kms, was it mostly through Russia, or did you go through the stans?)

I'm also thinking about taking my bike here across Mongolia and going up into Russia next summer, down into the stans, and then to the caucuses, and am wondering if a 150-250 cc bike would be capable to get through those mountainous regions. Also, is it safe to navigate Russia with a smaller bike that would not be able to spend most of the time on the highway?

Yes, you see always people ridding 150-250cc bikes.

I rode to iran, usbekistan, Tajikiszan, Kirgstan , kasachstan, Mongoli and back over Russia.

I did it with a Transalp.

You see the locals ride with this small bikes.

No recent messages on this post but i try..
I plan to ride from Mongolia to France on August 2022. The idea is to send my bike to Mongolia with LOXX Pan Europea services. Once there, we will have a 2 weeks trip inside Mongolia with friends that will rent bikes at Cheke -Tour (already went there, it works well). Then friends will return by plane and i will return by road :cool3:.
My question is about the timing: Do you think realistic to make the trip in 3 weeks ? Mongolia - Russia - Ukraine - Hungary - Austria - Switzerland - France

Yes, it is realistic.

You need to ride a lot, but its up to you.

I did that 3 times in 2 weeks from Ulaanbaatar to Vienna
I always run out of time at the end :rofl:

I used to start early, take brakes, did photo stops and still got a lot of milage at the evening done.

One time I did it in 10,5 riding days to Vienna.
I had an accident in Mongolia and lost time.
And I needed to be back on work on the 1st of September....
