Europe to Nepal 24

Hi everyone

Im planning to do a trip in July 24 leaving Europe with a final destination of the Himalaya (Pakistan or Nepal) this is the route i thought of taking.

Doing the trip on a 93 Transalp and taking my paraglider with me to do some flying at the same time.

Countries wanting to visit: Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia, Turkmenistan Kirghistan, Tadschikistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan , India & Nepal

Why not going through directly Iran? I feel i would love to see the Stans before.

I am aware that im gonna need a CDP and escort through parts of pakistan.

Is there anything else I should be aware of travelling through these parts of the world.

I am a bit worried about timing because i would love to do some trekking in the himalayas but i guess i'd have to arrive there latest by end of september.

Is this idea viable or do experienced riders recommend something else due to weather and climate.

Thanks for replying and advice

Between Georgia and Turkmenistan there is Azerbaijan, which still has closed land borders. And the Turkmenistan visa is still tricky to get in any case.

Going through Afghanistan might be tricky too.

Leaving end of July and hoping to get to Nepal by end of September - in two months - means you will do nothing except ride, essentially. No stops to sightsee anything or use your paraglider.

Not discouraging the trip, but maybe budget some more time for yourself and find out how easily you can get the right visas with your passport. :)

Yeah i wish i could start the trip sooner but im bound in with work sadly. Maybee it would also make sense to do the trip a year later with beginning date somewhere in April. Do you have experience for the route?:scooter:

Honestly, what I would recommend is that you use the time to take a *shorter* trip - and see more things on the way.

Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Georgia (+Armenia) would be an excellent round trip for two or three months. Easily accessible, no major visa issues, all doable overland. Plenty of great paragliding in Georgia and Armenia (I have a video somewhere of me on a tandem paraglider landing in cow poop up near Kazbegi). And if you run out of time, you can grab the ferry back from Georgia to Bulgaria (Ferry Service Burgas).

Its funny you say that that was actually starting to be my Plan B due to avoiding the Carnet and possible shipping later on. I've done a round trip to Greece along the Balcans 2 years ago and loved it so im really looking forward to seeing the other countries in the area.

What route did you take yourself there did you do something similar?

Cheers

I was on the tandem, yes. :D

On that trip I did not have my bike with me. But plenty of others on this forum have gone Europe-Turkey-Georgia.

There's some good paragliding to be had in Romania, and some good trails too :)
