Erenhot to Ulaanbaatar
 

Well, I'm now in Ulan Ude and Roynie is at the airport waiting for a flight from Beijing to Erenhot, so the distance between us is diminishing.

Roynie can't access the internet very well in China, so has asked me to post a couple of questions about the road from the Mongolian border at Erenhot to Ulaanbaatar.

Firstly, (for sentimental reasons) he wants to arrive in UB on Saturday - same as me. Does anyone know of any hotels/motels en route so that he can a) break the journey and b) not arrive in UB on Friday evening.

Secondly, can anyone shed light on the condition of the road. Is it mainly tarmac, sand or construction? Any insight would be appreciated.
