Entering "stans by car
 

Hi

This regards Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan/

Is there any special paperwork required on entering these countries (declaration, insurance etc?)

Do I need to register the vehicle separately? (i.e. in addition to myself?)

Any other permits, e.g. driving permits, road tax etc?

How much does this cost?

I"d greatly appreciate any information

On Uzbek, Kazakh, and Kyrg...I had a carnet BUT it didn't seem required. They asked for vehicle registration/Title/Ownership document...
The same for a fellow traveler in vehicle...no insurance requested either...and this was the past month.
NOW if your vehicle is somewhat flashy, you might be asked for something...but not sure.
