Sorry for my bad english...and thanks for your reply. Yes GO means Gaz Oil (diesel). I'm going to try what my mechanic told me: Bad diesel causes dammage to injectors first. Then bad injectors fill cylinders with diesel and this causes bad lubrification then bad compressions. Sorry for these incomplete explications because I don't know english terms for them. I don't know if my Def TD5 is Euro 5 or 6 , it was made in 2006. RR. |

A 2006 vehicle is euro 3 or at the most 4, but you said it took DEF (AdBlue) which is usually euro 5 or 6?? If your vehicle does not take DEF or have a DPF (diesel particulate filter) you should be able to burn high sulfur fuel no problem. However, especially in view of your experience, I would fit a primary filter with water trap like a Racor: 215R SERIES HAND PRIMER FUEL FILTER WATER SEPARATORS - Parker Charlie |
Bad fuel
BTW, we've just had a bad experience with fuel in Kosh-Agash. We filled up (200 liters!) at the АЗС station. It's just another of the many modern petrol station in the village, not cheaper than the other ones, chosen at random.
Just after crossing the border, we've had a stuttering engine and white smoke coming off the exhaust. So we've just drained all of it and replaced it with fresh diesel from Mongolia ("Petrovic" seems OK). Seems much better so far, no damage except for the wallet.:oops2: Maybe the bottom of the tank, or a bad batch. Shit happens. :rain: Laurent |
TD5 IS a common rail diesel and you should always try to get the Euro Diesel. Older Cruisers and mechanical injection Rovers are fine on regular diesel.
As above, fit a 2nd filter with water separator if you have a common rail diesel, that is pretty much a necessity. G |
I know no stinkin' TD5, mine is an HZ1, 4.2l 6cyl Toyota. :oops2:
Rock solid. And yes, I have also installed a Raccor water separator, even without a common-rail it helps. Sometimes. |
