Crossing Iran with expired export license plate
 

Hey all,

we are currently crossing China in order to get back to Europe with an old Mercedes van.

We would like to cross Iran to get to Azerbaijan instead of crossing by sea from Turkmenistan.

Only problem is, we have an expired German export license plate. Does anybody have a clue if we will be able to cross Iran with it, given we have a valid Carnet de Passage?

If there is something on the number plate that indicates that it has expired remove it and assuming everything is correct with the carnet there shouldn't be a problem. Don't volunteer any information or documents not asked for, just hand over the carnet, I doubt if they will know or care about anything else.
