Chinese Visa in Pakistan - Caution!!
 

Hello,

A word of caution to people crossing China from Pakistan to elsewhere.

The Chinese embassy in Islamabad will not issue visas to people on Pakistani tourist visas. We are three motorcyclists who had arranged a tour through China, but this is their policy and they are sticking to it. This is no mention of this policy on their website and thus no way to know in advance, and there is nowhere else to get the visa before China.

We are three motorcyclists who had arranged a tour in advance, and have had to cancel the tour, and our plans to visit Central Asia, and instead are having to go straight to Iran.

This post is to try and help other people who are travelling East to West, as it is such a shame to miss out on this region for some bureaucratic BS :censored:(the wounds are still very fresh), so our advice would be to get the visa in New Delhi or Kathmandu.

Thanks for this advice. Is this a new rule? I'm aware of some people who have obtained tourist visas in islamabad but that was 5 years ago. Sorry to hear about your troubles!

sorry to read this, but thank you for putting it here on the HUBB, as it will be important for others.

I got my chinese visa last year over an agency in Germany just before crossing into Belorussia, and I had only one month before entering China, so this worked out. I met others travelers that had no problems getting a visa for China in Bishkek.
