Camping in Moscow and St Petersburg

Hi all

Does anyone know of any good campsites in or near Moscow and St Petersburg? Preferably ones that are convenient for public transport into the centre. If so, please give the address and contact details, and the GPS coordinates if possible.

Thanks

Mark

Ther is a campsite on the road M10 coming from Vyborg into st petersburg near Kronstradt Lisij Nos- never stayed there but I believe its very basic and about 20k into the city, Its a few years now since I passed that way but I am sure if you look at some tour guide sites you will find it listed There are also a few campsites on the way down to Moscow and I believe two off the ring road One North side near the M8 the other south side off the M2. personally I would stay at the campsite near TVER well north of Moscow and take the train into the city from there.
You will find campsites in a few places in the north west area of Russia but usually pretty basic

Hi - thanks for that. Are you able to be any more specific with directions / locations of the campsite at Tver?

All I can remember is being directed there in Russian !! great fun - I had went into TVER centre and after a long day I followed a rough drawn set of directions. I left the following morning. It lies on the outskirts of the south side of town near to a petrol station just off the main road from St Petersburg to Moscow. But I got to it through the center somehow. Sorry I don't do GPS just old fashioned maps and its a few years ago now when I was there. The campsite was OK by Russian standards but i was only there overnight for about ten hours. I did not get into Moscow center at all. Have you tried contacting the Russian HU community in Moscow I am sure you will get more current information and help there.

campsites here are not many. but there are old soviet "rest houses" ( "dom otdykha") where you can stay for a simbolic 500 RUR.
if you don't plan to enter the city you can stay there Äîì îòäûõà Êîìïîíåíò it's ten kilometers from Solnecnogorsk town what itself is 40 km from Msk and has a railway connection with the city.
about Spb i agree about Lisiy Nos Hotel OLGINO. St.-Petersburg. Russia
