Buying a used motorcycle in Mongolia
 

Does anyone know of a website similar to craigslist/avito for Mongolia? I'm looking to buy a bike in Ulaanbataar for a trip around the country during the summer. Also, is it easy to register a bike there? And if not, how strict are the registration requirements if I'm just driving around the country in the middle of nowhere "borrowing" the bike. Is the worst-case scenario the bike getting taken or me thrown in jail?

By no means an authority on the subject, but from memory it is quite difficult to register a bike as a foreigner.
We hired bikes from Cheke Tours (on facebook) but I did hear of others who bought a new bike through her company with a buy back agreement at the end of the trip.
These are all just the little 150cc chinese farm bikes that all the locals are riding btw, do the job decently enough and all the locals know how to fix them

IIRC there are several threads on HUBB on this topic; they might be a few years old but they would probably be the best place to start.
