Bike insurance in the 'Stans
 

Hello,

I will start travelling in Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Uzbekistan, and perhaps Tadjikistan, in 10 days.
My insurance cover me until Russia, but not in the Stans.
I would appreciate to have not only a third party insurance (I've understood that you can buy it at the border), but also an insurance for theft.
Do you know companies that do it, for a limited period of time ? At which cost ? I'm french, and I haven't found any of the usual insurance companies there able to ensure a bike in these countries (even for Ukraine/Russia it's difficult
to find).

So I appreciate any advice !

Don't know of any insurance company offering short-tern insurance for theft. I would guess it would be very expensive.

Third-party insurance at the Kazakh border is easy and inexpensive.

Ok thanks, I will go for the third party insurance only, at one point I think I need to take the risks, you cannot have a full coverage for everything... or you don't travel in theses countries ;)

I've asked within KZ and nobody is aware of an insurer who will cover you for all the different countries, even though they are all in the CIS and customs union. Looks like you will have to buy it at each border. Would be interested to hear if anyone does find a policy that covers the whole region.

People travel all over with nothing but basic and sometimes no insurance, it is the risk you take. Fully comp or fire and theft is usually only available in your home country or for Europe if that is where you are from.
