Back in the old days of riding in Russia, (1990s) I used to carry at least $1000 in cash. Recently I carry about $150 at most and wonder why I am carrying it.
For the countries you are going to you wont have a problem finding ATMs in a town. Uzbekistan is the main exception in the region where cash is king, but you are not going there. Take multiple cards. Keep them in different wallets. A spare wallet with different cards stored in a different place is good backup for losing your plastic. ATMs are everywhere. I like to carry enough local cash to last me 3-4 days at least or until I exit the country :thumbup1:
