US and Canada questions . . . .?
 

Hi all,

can anyone clear up a couple of things for me? I'm shipping my Land Rover to the US later this year, intending to spend a few months in the US/Canada before heading south into Mexico and beyond . . .
if I enter on the visa waiver scheme, can I then cross the US/Canada border and obtain a further 3 months in the US when I re-enter the US?
what documentation is necessary to drive my vehicle in Canada?
what are the minimum insurance requirements for both the US and Canada?

The laws vary from state to state in the US. As long as you have some basic insurance and have the proof with you, you shouldn't have a problem.

Before 9/11 I would have said don't sweat it because they mostly look at the illegals coming from mexico. That is not the case now. I'm not sure but try the us customs link

thanks again. after much surfing of the customs sites it appears that if you exit the US for say Canada, while on a 3mth visa waiver visit, you can only re-enter the US for whatever time you may have left from these 3 months.
So, basically, if you enter the US under visa waiver, you get 3 mths, final - and it can't be extended. . . .

it's £65 for a B2 visa if you want to stay more than 3 months or you don't have a return ticket

so witha B2 visa you can fly into the US on a one way ticket?
expect the price of a one-way is very close to a return but every penny and all that . . .
