Entering California with an old UK car
 

A friend of mine wants to ship his 1989 Land Rover v8 to the US for a short period to do the Rubicon trail and some trail driving in Moab. Can anyone point me in the direction of information regarding Cali law in this respect as I understand they're a bit strict on emissions, amongst other things? An elderly '60s Unimog 404 is also an option he's considering. Any advice appreciated.

No restrictions unless he plans to permanently import it. Even then, should be ok due to year.

That's good news, thanks. I've been trying to wade through official websites but it's hard to find info for temporary imports. Don't want the car stuck at some west coast dock unuseable.
