The days on the road are more or less a rough guess since I do not know at which mile posts I will stop and which sights I will watch.

What do you think, does my plan make sense?

Are there other companies besides Eaglerider that offers one-way rents from NY to Atlanta? The offer from Eaglerider seems to be realy OK but I allways like to have a second offer.

And last but not least could you recommend a hotel in Manhatten?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the U.S.

Skyline drive is very scenic and that time of year the weather is (should be) perfect for moto touring. Wife and I just did Skyline Drive in May, but did more miles that day than you are planning. D.C. to Front Royal to Waynesboro to hotel in Danville. Many scenic backroads to get from Waynesboro to Danville. Stayed at Marriott Courtyard, Danville.

For lunch on Skyline Drive I recommend the Big Meadows Wayside, about mile marker 52. Cheap enough, but can get busy at lunch time. Two options, eat-in or take with. Eat-in was quicker service.

Enjoy, and abide by the posted speed limit. They ARE out there and watching you!

Also, be very careful around the curves on both BRP and Skyline Drive. We routinely came around a curve only to find a car STOPPED dead in the road to watch some wildlife up in the hills off the road. Once you're stopped, watch out for the traffic behind you. They will be surprised also, if they are paying attention!

I did not read all your post. The problem with doing all of Skyline is the speed limit. 35- 45 - MPH and they do enforce it. But the weather is really good in September so ride as much as you can stand. Dave
