Bmw parts at reasonable prices in Vancouver??
Hi there,
After a few miles on the road (from France to Malaysia), my girlfriend and I finally arrived in Vancouver, got the bike off customs, and back on the road to Montreal. 150 km after vancouver, on the 99 highway, a few kilometers after Pemberton, there's a rough pass, and the clutch, which was bad in the first place, would just not accept the climbing. Our nice K100 1990 model/oural side car is not up for the job. * I need to replace the friction plate, the diaphragm spring, the rear main oil seal, the 6 bolts and washers, the O ring, and a few other things. In most BMW shops in Vancouver, the parts have to be ordered from Germany, and the costs are very "bmw like". * Is there anything such as motorworks or moto-bins in north america, who sell bmw parts at reasonable prices? * Subsidiary question: looking for any building/mechanic/french or philosophy teaching/horse caretaking job to cover the costs of the stay in the region while waiting for the parts. Anyone interested? :innocent: |
Check out Supersport Motorcycle Works LTD #5-20701 Langley Bypass, Langley 1-604-532-0505. They are a used cycle and parts shop and have huge amount of parts. The guy knows everything. If not there, check out Bent Bike LTD, right behind Supersport. 1-604-534-1033. He has odd hours though.
Good luck Mark |
You might get a quote from these folks. I do not have first hand experience with them myself but they have been around for a good while.

For the clutch parts, I'd rather go for new than used. But I'll try to give a call if they know someone who knows someone, etc...
I'll try Shails, but that will have to wait for tomorrow I think. Thanks for the information. If anyone thinks of anything, suggestions are welcome! |
US companies??
HI Vince
I'm currently hanging out in Seattle, if there are any US companies that you can get the parts from and it's not easy to get them sent to Canada- I can bring them up to the border for you and meet you somewhere. good luck |
Thank you all for your messages. With all the information I managed to gather thanks to you, I ended up...ordering the parts from England... It was 1/3 of the US price!!!?!?
Hopefully, it should get there in a week or so. Then two to X days of work... And then 5.000 km to go to Montreal. Sounds like a plan. Not. Thanks TIffany for your support! |
