Bike storage in LA

Hi

I am about to complete a trip around the western states of the US and am considering storing my FJR1300 that I purchased for the trip and returning next year for another trip (I am from Australia). Have done a bit of googling on storage options, but would be interested in any suggestions or recommendations from Hubb members on good options.

I originally looked at LA but was worried about security so in the end I went for Las Vegas which has ideal weather all year round and is easily reachable. I used a storage facility immediately behind the Holiday Inn and 1 mile from the BMW dealer who recommended it. Flew into Vegas, took the hotel shuttle and walked from my hotel to my storage locker. There were a number of bikes stored there. A really nice couple lived on site were the managers but not sure if they are still there. Oh and storage is a bit cheaper in Vegas as well.

Hi Lillian

Thanks for the info, you don't happen to recall the details of that storage place do you? Name or street?

Thanks Damon

Storing the bike in LA

Hi Damon,

I've found a storage unit with a drive-up locker for US$63/mth and about 15 miles from LAX. it was the cheapest i could find as close to LAX, but also it's a big company, so their facilities are quite safe.

Try cubesmart and type in LAX, then you should find the similar one if you haven't already. Las Vegas is a long way to go to save 20 buck a month or something, and having just ridden from there, being on a motorbike in 107 degrees wasn't fun!! You'll spend that 20 bucks you save on water to stop yourself dehydrating! Ha

Shame nobody else replied about storage in LA, i was looking for ages for some advice/help.

Happy travels.

Hi, my experience has been that no matter where you look in LA its around 60 Dollars. Im storing in Palm Springs for this amount. Ive moved 3 times in the past few years as I found that no matter how cheap they offers begin with,it always increase after 6 months or a year as they are usually dealing with storers that cant ''wheel'' or 'ride' their goods away to easily. Watch for storage units that allow dust under the side walls or cladding, or even the roll down door. There are some fairly wild tornado style winds in autumn winter especially in the valley....I might move to Vegas for a change, how much are you paying up there? All I have is one motorbike under cover.
