American driving non-US plated bike in US
I live outside the US and may bring a non-US plated bike into the US as part of a RTW trip. I have a US passport, non-US drivers license, and I don't plan to keep the bike in the US permanently. Does anyone have this experience? Do you anticipate any problems?

I found the following, which suggests I should be fine as long as I maintain my nonresident status...let me know if anyone has had a different experience.
Importing a Motor Vehicle - CBP.gov "U.S. citizens employed abroad or government employees returning on TDY or voluntary leave may import a foreign-made car free of duty provided they enter the U.S. for a short visit, claim nonresident status, and export the vehicle when they leave." Not sure how long a "short visit" is, or whether it is also one year like visitors from other countries. |
No Problems
We are currently riding around the US on UK registered bikes and the most common question is where are those bikes from. Been easy so far.
