where to get carte grise?
I have been told that you absolutely need carte grise when entering Marocco. but the problem is that they don't issue this carte in my country! What can i do then? Can i get it in some other country ?
thanks for help, spela |
'Carte grise' is the French way of talking about your vehicle ownership documents. I have no idea how it works in Slovenia, but you presumably have a government issued document which has (amongst other details):
Chassis no. Engine no. Registration plate no. Your address, name etc. If you have that, then no problem. Sam. |
i have this document but it is written in Slovenian language (not in french or english). i thought carte grise is an international version of this registration document that i already have. the same way as you have national driving licence and international one. so there is no international carte grise?

Hi
We came across the Moroccan border last week and bought the carte gris there. For a landrover for one month it cost 840 dirhams. Its a bit confusing on the border as there are lots of booths issuing permits, vehicle registration papers etc, the grey card came from the guy in the booth furthest away from Spain (it will make sense when you are there!) Otherwise I think you can get the Green card insurance extended for Morocco, please check that though! Quote:

This is our normal 'Zelena karta'. We never had any problems. Ask AMZS.

no carte grise is not Green Card. green card is about insurance, meanwhile carte grise is like our 'prometno dovoljenje', registration document. i already asked auto-moto association in Slovenia but they didn't know anything about it. On my slovenian document it is written - certificat d'immatriculation.

I think Vikki may have been getting her cartte gris and 'permit de conduire' (or similar mixed up - and I think a pdc = you 'prometno dovoljenje',
certificat d'immatriculation. sound like registration papers - your ownership papers. Like Same says, that and a passport is all you need when you turn up at Maroc border. You can buy insurance, like Vikki said. i find on my ownership papers it helps to huighlight or underline * the d'immatriculation (license number of the car * the chassin VIN number as these can be confusing to find with all the other details • plus name, etc It also does not hurt to sign it somewhere also, even if you dont have to. If you can't get a carte grise, get a Notarius Publicus or legal advisor to translate it, preferably with lot's of stamps and insignias... I did the Atlantic route in -99 and never had any problem with my swedish owner papers, this was as good as any carte grise. Good luck. Jan |
I will be travelling to Morocco, Mauritania, and Mali in a couple of weeks.
I am travelling with a UK bike with the UK registration document. Do I need any other 'international' papers for the registration? I am a bit confused.. Also, do I need to get a 'green card' from my UK insurer, or is the insurance certificate that they sent me, which cover EU countries, all that I need for France and Spain? (I realize I'll need to buy new insurance for Africa). Thanks. Rejean |
" Do I need any other 'international' papers for the registration? "
Not really, apart from a GB sticker Also, do I need to get a 'green card' from my UK insurer, or is the insurance certificate that they sent me, which cover EU countries, all that I need for France and Spain? A Green Card may help (as it may be translated) and may even be issued free, but like you say you are covered legally. Have a good trip. Ch |

Is it fairly straight forward to get insurance at Ceuta? How much will I pay for a bike?
Charlie |
Ceuta is straightforward - 'assurance' they call it - about a pound a day for a bike. (comes in set periods of x days).
Glad you like the book Rejean. Chris S |
