Where to stay Nouakchott December 2019
I currently in the planning stages of a 5 vehicle trip to Banjul in the Gambia,
we are leaving the UK mid December 2019 and are going to be in Nouakchott late December, I have done the trip in the past and we have stayed at the Auberge sahara on the northern side of the City, is there any where in the south side on the main road heading towards Rosso? |

we are looking for somewhere safe to park the vehicles, and be able to shower etc, some will sleep in the vehicles and others might want a decent bed! |

Since the OP asks for "south" let us be clear Bab Sahara - old or new, Samiraa - are on Route Nouadibhou which is on the north side of town nowhere near the road to Rosso. Hotel Amira nearby is a good option on that side as is Auberge Awkar, the secure compound would be tight for 5 rigs. I know of nothing south side. PM me if you are desperate for any more info on the above.

Try it now. AFAIK there's nothing on the south side, which is "under development" and pretty rough. The Samiraa would be better, or on the beach camps.

Bertrand, as per my profile, my location is Oxford. Whilst I may choose to give a location other than the real one were I to be travelling in an insecure region, or some other nefarious reason, I am in Oxford for a while yet. I may be in NKC early next year, and may have time to go exploring for you but I suggest you may glean quicker, better information about the south side. I'd suggest that if you want to be on the right side of town for a quicker, easier get away heading south that you would still be better off using the best facilities know even if they are on the north side. Then when you plan to gol; get up earlier!!! Have breakfast en brousse once clear of the fumes and congestion. Stay in a crappy place south side, getting bitten by bugs, and a poor night's sleep is not a good start to a travelling day. Better still; swing by the town during the day, shit, shower, shave, shop and sleep peacefully in the desert. The less you have to do with NKC the better, most capitals are crap, NKC is certainly no better.
