Where do I need to change tyres?

Hi all,
Next week I'll be travelling by Yam XT through Morocco and Mauritania to Timbuktu. I'll have to go to Nouadibou to get fuel, then I will follow the R2 route (railroad route) to Atar. What would be the best point to switch to sand tyres? Would that be in Nouadibou, or earlier in Guerguerat? Or maybe later.

Go to one of the overlander stopoffs in Nouhadibou - Camping Baie du Levrier etc - and change your tyre there. If you run into problems there will be loads of people who can help you. Some won't even charge you!

It won't be a problem to do it myself, but I don't want to waste brand new sand tyres by starting on hundreds of kilometres of tarmac. But thanks for the advice.

It gets soft as soon as you leave the highway and get bihind Bir Lanouar is it? so NDB is a good place to change - you will have some shade.
R2 was very hot in November so I imagine in June it will be very very very hot indeed, and hotter as you get inland.

Nouadibou it will be then. Looking forward to it, leaving this saturday. I know it will be very, very, very hot, not looking forward to that.
