Wanted in digital/GPS compatible format: Sahara Handbook Morocco waypoints

Hi guys
As the title says, does anyone have Chris Scott's Sahara Handbook waypoints for his Morocco routes in digital/GPS compatible format? I have the book (purchased by me, full price) with the route descriptions, but it's a big ball ache to have to type all the waypoints into my PC to the upload them onto my GPS.

I have a Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx that comes with MapSource if that's relevant.

Pls email me with any files as an attachment:

In Moroc with a mate on yellow/white DRZs from 15 to 27 December 2007. If you see us, give us a wave.

Many thanks,
ChrisB

Hi

I haven't got Chriss Scott book, the reference in France for Morroco is Gandini,
I've got a lot of tracks and wpts. If you ask for given tracks ( start and end city ) I can send you some.
On an other hand you can find there GPS Vector Map Morocco a map of morroco compatible Mapsource so with your gps, it contains the most konwn tracks.

Echo what Eric says.

If you work with Chris's book in conjunction with Mapsource and the Marokko Topo maps, you can quickly deduce Chris's route and use Mapsource viapoints to lock down vectors.

If you find yourself doing routes that are not on Marokko Topo, please save them (distinguishing between roads and pistes) and send to Olaf for incorporation into the next release.

Hi Eric
Thanks for the message. I've downloaded Olaf's Moroc Map onto MapSource and my GPS and they look great. Was looking for Chris Scott's waypoints because I've made his route descriptions into a format that fits my roadbook holder and they obviously work well together.
cheers

Hi Tim
Will do.
Thanks

The Marokko Topo maps work best if you download the road-only version as the contour lines make it difficult to follow in Mapsource and the GPS unit. Alternatively, only download the road bits to the GPS.

Check mail.

Chris

I've emailed you a file with about 40 routes on it, including some of the ones in the book. If you don't get it then PM me your email address and I'll try again.

Mark.

The routes are in Chris Scott's book. Here's a link to the web site: Sahara Overland: A Route and Planning Guide Whilst I have transcribed these to Mapsource for my own use, and ASAIK there is no copyright possible on GPS points, I feel it isn't playing the game to make these freely available.

It really doesn't take that long to enter the points. Make sure you have the Morocco Topo map first.

Agreed. You really need the guide notes to go with the GPS data. There's a lot more to the book than just a set of routes - it's essential reading for anybody heading down that way.
