Visa for Niger - do we have a problem?

I will be overlanding from the UK to Ghana, where my daughter meets us to drive the Landy back. She plans to fly into Niger and then travel down to Accra to meet us.
The problem is:
Apparently to get a visa for Niger she needs proof of "onward travel". This can take the form of an air ticket etc. But she wil be travelling out of Niger on public transport and therefore no proof of onward travel.
Is this right and is there a way that she can overcome this?
TIA
Ian

I am gonna make you happy :)

( I am assuming you plan to Land in Niamey )

You CAN get the Visa for Niger on Arrival !!!!. No wait , no queues . Just 15.000 FCA (30 Euro / 20 quid )

and ITs not a exception . At least 10-20% of the passangers don't have the visa , and hence expect to get it on the Airport

Procedure is as follows :

1 Upon Landing , get to the inmigration Queue. (preferable at the end of the queue)
2 State that you don't have a Visa /. Ask for a Visa

3 The clerk in the inmigration booth will take your Passport , and give you some kind of receipt for it
4 This receipt allows you to go throught Inmigration and collect your baggage

5 With your baggage , Go to the Police station in the very same Airport (Its actually inside the Terminal)

6 Wait your turn , enter the office , and write down your name , address , etc.. etc.. , pay 15000 CFA (they take Euros or CFAs ,. they DONT take anything else )
7 stay outside again .
8 in 5 minutes , a good-looking lady calls your name , and gives you the Passport with the VISA . !!!! Enjoy the taxi-driver marabunta.

If the flight happens to arrive in the night , the procedure is a bit different . After writing down your name , details , etc.. (point "6") you are asked to go to your hotel /etc.. . Don't worry , the receipt you are given is as good as a passport to book a hotel , etc.
Then , next day grab a cabby to "DGT" (Direction Generale Territoriele -or something like that -) ... and there , you trade your receipt for your Passport (with visa on it )

Enjoy

Any need for info about Niamey .. just ask .

Thanks a lot
Javier

Visa for Mali & other bits

Javier
Brilliant
I have relayed the info to my daughter who will no doubt have some further questions.
Many thanks
Ian

PS

I am right in thinking that I don't need a Carnet for my trip to Ghana.
We will be going the Atlantic route and then into Mali, Burkino Faso, Benin, Togo and into Ghana.

Hi Ian .

regarding the CarnetDePassage .. well , you definitely don't need it for Marocco , Mauri , Mali , burkina , Togo ,Benim , etc..

Until recently you do need a carnet to enter Ghana ...but as of this year the law has been more "relaxed" . A lot of people enter without carnet . If I were you ... Id go without one . Be ready to pay a small bribe .

....disclaimer: This is what I think , and what I heard . I can give you at least 10 links of people having entered Ghana without a Carnet. However Africa is unpredictable . IF the officer in the border doesnt like you or whatever .. you may find a difficulty . -as everywhere- .

Have a nice day
JAvier
