Tropic of Cancer Circumnavigation
 

Hi, I'm planning a charity trip to circumnavigate the Tropic of Cancer and am in the process of pulling together initial information on the Sahara leg. Route is (ish) Western Sahara, Algeria, Libya and Egypt - though due to border restrictions probably need to go further south - Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Chad, Sudan...

Is there a viable route though this region?

Short version Alan: IMO forget most of Cancer between W Sahara and Egypt, and consider calling it 15°N Circumnavigation.
Getting to the tiny bits of Cancer you can follow in north Mori or south Alg will not be worth the bother.

Sadly, the way things are now, these sorts of trans-Sahara epics have had their day.
