Taking a truck to dessert

Hallo,
Me and some friends want to drive a truck to West Africa en selling the vehicule there. I think something like a Mercedes 1717 tippertruck would do. Has anyone have experience in this ?
What kind of truck would do best ?

looking forward for some reactions !

greetings,
Werner.

No experience but i hear that anything Mercedes they like, even a tipper. Put a knackered 504 in a back and sell that too (and its comfy for the pax, even w/0 a view.

I think you had better be careful about what you are going to try. It used to be possible to do this in Algeria before the war but when I asked them recently on the Tunisian border they didnt seem to be too impressed by the idea, neither was there any guarantee that the Tunisians would let you in there.

If you try it in Morocco then you can only enter via Tanger if at all. They only let people in with "touring trucks" as a rule, tippers dont usually belong to this. In October I met three Dutch Iveco tippers which entered but they were registered in Holland as "camping cars". They had some trouble trying to get in but eventually made it.

They didnt have a car in the back so I dont know how the Moroccans would treat this if you do show up with it. I would tend to think that without a carnet you would have little chance. The only other possibility is to declare the whole lot in Tanger as transit to Mauritania, this should now be possible (maybe, maybe not) as the borders are officially opened but if they are going to ask for a financial guarantee, I dont know.

The 1717 should be easy enough to sell although they tend to prefer the 190 or 220 bhp engines.
