Tadrart/ plastic canisters with diesel on a ferry?

We have just come back to Tunisia from a trip to Tadrart.
First photos you can see here: https://www.facebook.com/events/7296...tab=discussion

We have chosen Timtar Expeditions and I am very pleased with their work.

I still have some algerian diesel in plastic canisters on my ute. Is it possible to take them on the ferry to EU?

Regards
Tomek

On the ferry never had probs but years ago when Alg was popular Italian customs in Genoa got quite nasty - or pretended to (threatened arrest, consular action). Then just took the diesel, iirc.
Never had that in Marseille. It may have just been a phase.
It's one reason why built-in tanks are handy.

PS: link did not work for me

Thanks Chris,

yeah, built-in tank would be very handy.

P.s. When I finish editing photos I will put another link.

French and German motorhomers heading to Morocco fill up with large bottles of water, and if they cross to the south, they fill them up with cheap diesel, so i guess some of it ends up on the ferry. Never any mention of fuel getting off the morocco ferry back in Spain

On a way back from Algeria I used a ferry from Tunis to Palermo by GNV. I had 1 steel and 4x 20l plastic canisters (3 of them- the blue style bought in Djanet) fastended and easily visible on my ute.

While entering the ferry the plastic canisters were empty but:
-before entering the ferry they asked only about some things in the cabin and checked if my bike is securely fastened on the ute.
-in Palermo customs asked usual questions about whisky/ciggaretes and nobody even knocked at the canisters to check if they are empty...

If you are going to bring your bike on the ute especially from Palermo to Tunis it is better to buy separate tickets for the bike and the car (instead of taking one ticket for larger vehicle (ute+bike on the back). That way you can save 78E and after all I didn't have to unpack the bike from the ute both ways.
