surfing ~ spain to senegal

Hi. Ive been trawling through the back log of posts here but havent been able to find anything that really helps me directly.
Im planning a trip from novemeber till february 06 surfing my way down the west coast of africa. hopefully spending most of my time in morocco and senegal. the plan is to purchase a van which i can live out of (something along the lines of a kombi), follow the coast road and stop where i need to.

is this kind of thing actually possible?
was hoping to ditch/sell the car in senegal and public transport it back, but after reading some posts, this looks quite difficult.

anyone have any suggestions???

In Mk there is a bit of a scene as you probably know, but must say I've never heard of anyone surfing down through Western Sahara or Mauritania. Cliffs/difficult beach access (jn a 2WD), the exposure and remoteness are the main reasons I suppose. You'd have thought someone would have tried it by now.

Hi Chris.
Thanks for your reply.

did a bit more searching and found a few articles from 2000ish.

sounds like there is definetly waves around. my main concern is the land mines now however, or mainly watching incredible waves without being able to get to them due to land mines.

oh and if anyone wants to join me on an expedition i would love someone to test the ground in front of me...

Hi,

About landmines, 2 camels triggered landmines in a beach (!!) south of Dakhla last year.
Thus, I would suggest to follow always other car's tracks when "exploring" beachs south of Dakhla.

By the way, great waves down there!!

Cheers,
José
