but basically I'm in need of a cylinder head gasket for a 300Tdi, and a new clutch would be helpful too, and maybe a tow back to Dakar from Kaolack if anybody is feeling particularly charitable http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif

One option.
Don't know about LR dealer in Dakar, but there's a LR dealer in Gambia where you can get your parts. You can find them on the right hand side of the Kanifing highway after Jimpex junction before Serrekunda. If you want to shop around there are a few car part shops on that stretch.
To get there from Koalak, take transport to Barra, ferry to Banjul then transport to Serrekunda, ask to be dropped at Jimpex.
