selling vehicles in Niger?

has anyone had success, or heard of people having success, selling their vehicle in Niger? i am going to be driving a LandCruiser or HiLux from Tunisia-Libya-Niger for 5 weeks this coming November/December and am planning to end the trip in Agadez, where i'd like to sell the vehicle. i'd rather not have to continue on further south or west to Togo or even Senegal if possible. but from other postings i've read, those are the places people seem to have had luck with sales.

thanks,
tom

Agadez was THE place to sell cars before the war in Algeria, after that the Morocco-Mauritana route took over. It was so good that they used to drive into the desert north west of Arlit looking for cars.

Although it has changed generally speaking a Landcruiser or Hilux can be sold anywhere and will get very good prices providing its a diesel.

I spent a week in and around Agadez late 2002 in a Landcruiser HJ61. If I had a day without three guys wanting to buy my car, I really starting wondering what was wrong with me.

Just before heading off, I enquired about the price and was told that my vehicle, which was in good shape and the most popular model in the range, should easily fetch eur 10th.

good luck,
Camiel

thanks, camiel - that's encouraging news. if you don't mind me asking, was the EUR 10K more or less than what you bought the vehicle for in europe?

we're planning to buy our HiLux or LandCruiser in france before heading down to the Genoa-Tunis ferry to start our trip.

cheers,
tb

I bought the vehicle for approx. 6000 euro. It has to be said I spent considerable money on springs, tyres, exhaust and a myriad of other stuff. Not sure if that is necessary to get a better price though.

Prices in Holland have a tendency to rise off late. Not sure about prices in Agadez though!

thanks, camiel. depending on price and availability, we may end up flying into amsterdam and buying the vehicle in holland instead of france. any recommendations on shops or contacts in holland to line up a LC or HiLux beforehand?

I use www.autotrader.nl as my main source.
Send me an email and I'll see if I can help you any further.
