Route from Bamako to Timbuktu (Posting from Bamako)
Hi
I am currently in Bamako and am planning to go to some music festivals. Chris' book describes a route from Bamako to Timbuktu but I would really like to get hold of some waypoint details. I will check this sight for replies over the next two days. Also, does anyone know where overlanders stay in Bamako; I am staying at the Mission Libanaise which is fine but I want to find other travellers in order to swap info etc. By the way; I got to Bamako from Mauritania via Nema and Nara which was fairly easy. I plan to return from Mali to Maritania in late Jan and would be interested in info on routes fro the return journey as I do not really want to go back the same way I came. Thank you. Tony |
Hi
Places to stay in Mali: You can see: http://www.mosquitto.ttverde.com/php...0e9e5d2458180e To return, you can try the fanstastic route: Bamako – Kita – Toukoto – Bafoulabé – Kayes – Aourou – Kankossa - Kiffa ------------------ http://www.mosquitto.ttverde.com |
Try the Catholic Mission - we stayed there last year with several other overlanders.
I would thoroughly agree with amagettverde on his suggestion for your return route from Bamako. |
Thank you for useful info

Will be soon leaving to go to music festival too by motorcycle. Still in UK now. What waypoints do you want? I can look some up using MapSource and WorldMap (not 100%) but might come in handy. If you tell me what you are looking for I might be able to find it for you whilst still in the comfort on my home! email me is best . PS what is the track condiiton like between Nema, via Amourj Adel Bagrou, & Nara? any info on that part? fuel/places to stay? One option from Bamako to Timbuktu is via Douentza: http://www.sahara-overland.com/Sfiles/ian-timbo.htm
