Yes I think. But I read on french forum that many 4wds have done it recently, and it's easy now with a car 4wd, but every thing can chage rapidely on this type of track, it's better to have a " B plan " in case.
I believe there is an other track to avoid this downhill, through North. which is passing in a canyon.

That's what I named the 'Jaws of Death' canyon at N32 33.122 W4 54.784

From Midelt you take the N13 northwest for about 9-10 miles then head southwest for 9-10 miles then turn left (south south east), then after 10-12 miles descend into what looks like a dead-end canyon.

Thanks Tim.

I've put Eric's GPS track into Google Earth along with your waypoint for Jaws of Death Canyon and it looks as if the track is a detour from the main Cirque de Jaffar route... not for the faint hearted and probably not for my Landcruiser on it's first outing.

The U turn on the top of the track is a mistake we did, not doable with a car.

Snow in Atlas

Hi, it's my first post on this forum, so few word about myself.
I'm 36, Polish, lucky owner of expedition equipped LR Disco. This winter I'm going to Morocco with my wife following almost the same route as Paul and Dawn so this thread is perfect to join.

Currently my biggest concerns are potentially closed roads in Atlas because of snow. Is there any place in the net where I can find information about it? What do you think, the route Tanger - Meknes - Fes - Ar Rechidia - Merzouga will be possible?

BTW: Paul and Dawn when exactly are you going? I'm living Poland before Xmas.

We're hoping to get there 3rd or 4th week in October. Well before the snow ~ hopefully:helpsmilie:

Having not been to Morocco before I don't really know what to expect about the weather. My best guess is that it will be warm by day and cool (but not cold) at night.

Hi,
I'm from Warsaw. Our plan is to leave Poland around 18-19th of Dec and come back at 10th of Jan. That gives us a good 3 weeks.

Concernig weather; in Tunisia february this year was -2 at night and ca. 22 during the day. I assume that in Marocco will be colder, -5 at night:(

Hi,
This planed time sounds quite nice, temperatures not so bad.
By the way, I'm from Warsaw too :thumbup1:.

Piotr
