hi all, just to let you guys know:

1. there is no petrol in ayoun, mauretania
2. the road from kiffa to ayoun is in a desolate state
3. there is ATM in nioro, mali, which accepts VISA!

Thanks Darius, heading that way in a weeks time.Is there petrol in Nioro? My bike only has about 300k's worth of travel in it's tank

That doesnt sound too good. I am supposed to crosse there on my gs500 in a few days time. I will probably try to go through Senegal without a carnet or think of something else. So how long is it between two petrol stations, is there petrol in Kiffa?

And what about the Kiffa-Kayes route, is it open, can I consider it with my road bike at all?

I just came trough Mauri that way, and I had absolutely no problem finding petrol. In AyounEl Atrous there are at least 3 petrol stations, but I was sold bad petrol out of cans for 2 euro/litre, but this was a scam as a bit further was a working petrol station. As said, the road to Kiffa is in bad state, but in Kiffa there is fuel and even between the ´big´ cities there were occasionally gasstations, so people, don´t worry, they don´t have much in Mauri, but petrol they have.

hi,
there is petrol in kiffa, but we couldnt get any petrol in ayoune 5 days ago(not even at the total station...). as soon you cross into mali, petrol isnt a problem nomore. in nioro there are at least 5 stations all selling petrol.

Should be there in a week or so... my plans never work out so I can only guess. I am thinking about going to Ghana or Burkina Faso afterwards but again thats just thinking. Contact me through my website or send me an email or I will send you one when I get there.
