Maroc project
 

Hi! I work to a new project: a 7 day trip in Maroc, from Fes, Merzouga to the Atlantic Coast. I try to make the daily stages and i have a problem: can i do, in one day (Day 2)the stage from Fes to Tinehis and from (Day 4)Merzouga to Tata? Are this stages to long/hard to drive?
Any sugestion?

Are you on a bike or 4x4?

The route from Fes south is pretty good, and a long distance is possible in a day.

Merzouga to Tata would be too long in a day - presuming you would follow the piste paste M'hamid? It is fairly slow going in places, lots of corrugations and some dunes early on. I did Zagora to Foum Zguid in a day but it was a long days driving.

1 OR 2 DAYS?

2 days - maybe longer if there has been flooding and you have to head north to find a way around or back track. Even then you won't be stopping much....

Do less and see more?

Two days easy for that route.

You seem to be planning quite a long circuit for seven days - I would perhaps concentrate on doing a smaller route focusing around Merzouga/Iriki, or do a coastal route - then you have another route to return for!

ok, thanl you! Maybe i can do Merozuga Mhamid and Zagora, and after that hit the road on tarmac to Essaoiura!

Mez - Zagora = 1 day
Zagora - Tata = 1 day. The last ~40km of the Foum Zguid piste is now compacted gravel (type 1 ready for tarmac). We left Zagora at 11am and rolled into Tata in the Afternoon (4x4).

From there we drove Tata to Sidi Ifni in 1 day If you want to reach the coast.

We plan to drive 2 days from Merzouga to Tafroute, trough Zagora adn Foum Zguid, and stay over night in one of those.
