Mali visa

Hi folks
I'm looking for info if we can get Mali visa on Mauretania-Mali border (Nioro).
Is is it faster than waiting in embassy in Rabat? (heard about 48 hours)
How much it cost?

Thanks for help

In December last year (2010) we got Mali visas in Rabat in about 2hours. It was a pretty relaxed process. If you are in Rabat anyway it would be worth visiting the embassy to check.

Hey bud

I was there about 2 weeks ago. bought Visa from Mauritania Nouakchott. got it back same day and it cost 6500 oug for 1 month single entry very easy and no problems. You can also get it at border but it will be a hassle with the locals and change merchants out in force.

Rebat embassy have some awkward hours at certain times of year so it was closed when i was there. Should be fine if its open to get in rebat but if you dont need to get it in Mauritanian

hope that helps!

malian visa in arabat always worked out fine for me (same day)
on the border you can get a so called "lassez passer" it costs 15.000 CFA in no time
than you have a week to go to the police in Kayes or Bamako (don't know about other cities) equipped with 2 photos and get a proper visa free of charge (same day)

It seems that the best option is Rabat. The same day Mauritanian and Mali visa.
We will not be in Nouakchott, so better to do it in Rabat indeed.

Thank you.

bear in mind you most probably will not be able to do it the same day that way - your passport with your Mauri visa will be returned to you in the afternoon, then you rush to Mali emb, little chance they will issue you a visa on the spot -- unless you produce some really convincing heart wrenching story

Hey Bartosz,

I was down there in May, and we got the visa from the Malian border no problem. It is a pretty straightforward process and it is for 1 month single entry. If you decide to do it in Rabat it will have to be on a separate day from the Mauritanian visa, as this other fellow has pointed out, since you wont have a passport available.

I have always got it at the border. Last time in Feb. Nioro no problem.
But if you enter a small border they might stamp your passport (for free) and tell you to go to the special police in the nearest town and there they will issue a visa (singel or multi). Don't remeber the price.

Thank you friends
We will try to produce heart wrenching story in Malian Embassy but we are 8 persons group, so can be difficult.
If we fail, we will not wast time in Rabat and we will drive to Mali.
I think that nothing changed from May.

Maybe you know the visa price stamped in border?
