Libya - Niger.... open or closed.. what about Algeria ?
 

Hi - anyone any idea on the current state of the border between Libya and Niger ? I'm in contact with two libyan agencies for visas, one is saying that there is no problem (Alawi tours), the other is saying that the border is closed (Al Quatrun - Tummu on South).

If this route is closed, anyone know the current state of Ghat - Djanet ??

Djanet -> Niger is closed, Niger -> Djanet is possible but not recommended because of insecurity.
Try Mohamed Taher in Al Gatrun, see other posts in this forum.

Last year I had the same problem with conflicting information.

From what I read, the border is officially closed but you can pass it anyway.
However:
- do not count on re-entering Lybia after getting out. Thus, after leaving Al Katrun it is always going down!
- expect heavy bribery and a lot of hassle at least in the two last Lybian military checkpoints (near Tummu).

Apart from that it is pretty straighfoward.
Do find Mohamed Taher in Al Katrun, we will arrange all paperwork for you and, if you want to, a guide either to Niger or Chad.
