Libya - Niger border crossing
 

Hi,

Has anyone had any (or know of anyone) with recent experience of the crossing into Niger from Libya ? Any comments of ease (?) of travel down to the border post - with / without guides - and any other tips etc. would be appreciated.

Have got the report from Sahara Overland S-Files from 2001, but wondered if anyone has any more recent experience. Would doing Tunisia, Libya, Niger, etc, Mauritania, Maroc - be a feasible route ?

this route is rarely done by tourists but lorries go to an fro regularly. On a bike, i would latch onto one of theml fuel range is long. Get me a picture of Emi Fezzan if you're passing....
Once in Dirkou you can expect guide hassles.

Hello Sam,

yes, many persons crossed the frontier there in the last 2 years (also myself). I never heard of problems.

There are some small reports in the german, french and italian speaking sahara forums, or ask me direkt by email.
