Libya Highway Question

Has anyone here ever traveled the road that runs from Ajdabya south to Kufra? Ajdabya is on the Gulf of Sirte, about straight south of Benghazi.

I am interested in riding the first 200 km's of this road only, down to about parallel with the 103A oil site airport. This is near the towns of Jalu (Gelo?) and Awjilih.

I would like to make the trip on a Honda ST1100 PanEuropean, which is not exactly a dual sport motorcycle. It can handle sand and gravel OK, but not soft sand.

Any reports, comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

The road is surfaced all the way to Kufra. The first part to Jalo, and then on to Tazerbo junction across the serir is in perfect condition. Beyond the junction the Tazerbo branch is unsurfaced (but it's a built road, not a piste). The remaining stretch to Kufra becomes progressively worse, with a very cracked and corrugated surface. The last 150 kms before Kufra are quite dismal.
