It's a shame the gas station from Cairo to Bahariya doesn't work continuously, so it's as good as saying there is no gas station.

The gas station half way Cairo-Baharya is since 1 year nearly regularly filled with fuel. Even if it looks close you will always find someone around sleeping who will awake and fill the tank.
as for that oasis loop, watch out near cairo, as the road is dangerous, plenty of big lorries and oil company huge trucks, avoid by all means driving at night or when the few is not 100% clear. In october and november you have also plenty of fog there.

For the other Asyut road it is not open all the way for tourist and foreigners, so take care around Aswan you could run in some problems.

Convois should have been stopped but actually they still exist, which are not very plesent.
