Thanks for the info chaps. I have heard people say that they put their credit cards in credit before going travelling and then use them.

Does anyone know whether it is better to use a visa debit card or a credit card in terms of the exchange rate you get and the charges? So for example if I want to draw cash from an ATM, is it better to use the visa debit card or credit card? OR If I want to pay for something, is it better to use the debit card or credit card?

My experience is that you get fractionally more for your cash with a debit card than a credit card - but it's a gut feeling rather than something I've researched!
