Egypt > Sudan border costs with motorbike 2018

I will cross into Sudan from Egypt in a few days an wondering if anyone has recently done the same with a motorbike and can share what costs they encountered?

I crossed in early 2016. Then costs totalled less than$50 on Sudan side and about $150 on Egyptian side (that included buying insurance).

Couple of things to note (I) don't go on a Friday, it is closed (ii) there is absolutely no need for a fixer on either side and (iii) accept in advance the process will take all day.

So I just crossed yesterday - here are the costs:

Egypt side (in Egyptian Pounds):

50 - Ferry
2 - landing card
127 - gate
110 - Police Check
25 - Customs
40 - File
10 - Traffic Police

total - 364 = $20

I also paid $50 to Kamal, fixer in Aswan - possibly others wouldn't need to -
there was a specific reason I did that I won't go into here. It defintely made things faster and less stressful.

Sudan side (Sudanese Pounds):

174 - Insurance for 1 month
426 - carnet stamp/customs and immigration
300 - Mazar - fixer - definitely he is worth it - only took about 30 minutes and I just had a tea while he did it all.

total - 900 = $34

Out of interest, was there an option or did you consider going via Argeen on west bank (no ferry/avoiding Wadi Halfa)?

I did consider it but ended up wanting to do the more tried and tested route - bit put off by the distance without fuel via Argeen too - the petrol station in Abu Simbel had a problem with their pump so I couldn't fill my spare tank. Also the fixers recommended Wadi Halfa and I was getting them to do some special extra stuff. In the end I'm lucky I did do Wadi Halfa as I developed a fuel problem at the border and I'm not sure how much further I would have made it!

Heading south from Europe to Sudan and further shortly. Additional Egyptian carnet costs are dissuading me from going via Egypt, but maybe that hurts less than air freight/shipping plus flying myself and then clearance procedures/costs at freight terminals.

Anybody with more current costs/info/open borders via the Greece-Turkey-Syria(?!)-Jordan-Israel-Egypt-Sudan route?

I suppose one day someone will succeed in crossing Syria to Jordan again, but it's hard to think the Turks would allow letting in any more potential jihadis. It looks like they're about to invade northern Syria and see to the Kurds.
I would have thought if it ever happens, it will initially take the form of escorted army convoys, as used to happen in Western Sahara - or similar to Iran, Baluchistan, Algeria and so on (for some nationalities).

The simplest way must still be RoRo ferry (Salamis, Grimaldi?) from Greece (via Cyrpus) > Isreal > Jordan > ferry > south Sinai. Or direct from Israel if north Sinai Taba crossing is open.

To dodge Egypt you might take a chance on the new Saudi e-visa and cross from Jordan then ferry from there to Sudan. Some doubt the easy-visa will work like this. Probably aimed at fly-ins.

Doesn’t the stamp in the passport from Israel / border point next to Israel cause major issues when going into Sudan / Saudi Arabia to the extent of not being allowed in?

Under normal circumstances afaik Sudan turns a blind eye to carefully scrutinising your recent visas stamps.
Saudi - who knows.
In the link in my post above there is also mention of a ferry between Turkey and Saudi.
