Odd - in 2007 I entered Egypt with a dash-mounted GPS and drove from the Libya border via the oases to Cairo and then Sinai before exiting to Jordan. I may have concealed it on entry, but made no attempt to hide it once I was in the country, or indeed on exit. Maybe they just didn't know what it was!

Was it illegal?

I didn't know it was illegal, crossed border with 2 GPS's on the dash and nobody complained :oops2:
