Djanet - Ghat

As situation in west Sudan is not very promissing I am looking for a different route that might be just as interesting.

One way or they other I want to visit Algeria!
And end up East Sudan.

Now I am "planning" to go from algeria Djanet to Ghat Libia. Does anyone know if it is possible now as I want to drive on to the east top of libia, enter Egypt and then down to sudan.

And any new info on Libia visa's?

Or does anyone have an other option to do south algeria and to end up in Karthoum?

Thanx

Djanet-Ghat is still a one-way border. Ie you can leave Libya, but you can't enter there. It's for practical reasons - they just don't have the number plates/paperwork/insurance people etc. there.

Er, that's it.

Sorry to give negative info, but there you go.

Other Routes:

Algeria-Tunisia-Libya...
Algeria-Niger-Nigeria-Cameroon-CAR (how brave are your feeling on that one??!!)...
Through Chad...

Sam.

He Sam,

Thanks for the info how about the border post more to the north that is on the michelin map? Forgot his name... is that also oneway?

The coplete west sudan border is closed also in CAR. And I now a guy did CAR and south sudan but I am taking laptop cellphone and gps so they will defenitly see me as a spy... so no not brave enough for that!

But if I want to get in sudan and the boder is closed, it "only" 10000km de-tour so maybe Ill just go for it. Or do turkey syria, libia and egypt.... but the no Algeria....

As an alternative to the above:

I realise it's somewhat beyond the realms of this forum, but how about Algeria - Niger - CAR - Congo (Zaire) - Uganda?
Is there anyone who has recently done this and made it through in one piece?

cheers,
Camiel
