Djanet, Algeria

Hello

I'm going to Algeria in late December for about 10 days. I'm very interested in seeing Tassili N'Ajjer.

1. How can I get to Djanet? I am thinking about taking a plane, which city from? how much can it cost? I don't have time to wait for convoys...

2. How much does the 3-days trip to Tassili N.P. cost? Do you know some agencies there?
I'm interested in the cheapest one.

Thanks.

Check out www.tassili.net , you'll find most of your questions answered.

The agencies all work in the same price range, you'll find little difference. With hardly any tourists these days I'm sure you'll be able to negotiate a good deal.

You might have problems with the flights though, with no tourists the schedules may be erratic, plan with some flexibility.

Thanks.

I saw this page yesterday.
I forgot to say, that I want to take a plane somewhere in Algeria.

In November 2002 I flew to and from Djanet from Algiers. Cost was very low and the plane even left early on the Djanet-Algiers leg (a first for me). The flight leaves early in the morning from Algiers but gives great views of the desert, especially over the Fadnoun and Tassili. There was a stopover in Illizi on the way out. Air Algerie, new 737s and nice staff.

Most flights from Algiers to Djanet will stop in Ghardaia, Ouargla or Illizi (sometimes several stops), so you can get on at these places too. You'll probably only find out exact schedule once there, published timetables are treated rather flexibly...

Do you know how much could it cost? 100$ for return ticket? More, less?

One more thing:

What can you recommend to see in northern Algeria? Maybe I won't fly south and I will focus on the northern part because of safety. I am affraid a little bit of rebelians.

I think you've got it the wrong way round Cart. The north has long been more dangerous, especially for a foreigner:

Well, I don't know...
Maybe it's not good idea to go there right now. But what will I do for 15 days in Tunisia? I thought of going to Libya or Algeria, but those countries had problems with safety, plane crushes, etc. Also, in Libya I don't have money to hire a guide needed to obtain visa...
I think I will end up in Tunisia :-(

There are also some direct flights from Paris to Djanet with Air Agerie in December. i took one on October 25, it was packed.... Need to make reservations long in advance.

I went with a travel agency called Tasset to Tadrart and Jabbaren. Great service and prices: there number: 213-29475469

What do you mean "great prices" ? How much exactly? ;-)

Do you know where I can make a free hotel reservation in Algeria? I need this to obtain visa, in Poland we don't need to have an invitation, but we do need a hotel reservation.
Everywhere I found, they required credit card but I don't have one.
Of course I won't stay in this hotel, I need only a paper :-)
Maybe someone has email addresses to hotels?
